In this project, the clients had purchased a second-hand apartment to be able to refurbish it according to their needs and tastes. They wanted to avoid the typical new-build flats without personality where neutral colors and white predominate, along with conventional materials.
With the new design, the “look” they were seeking has been achieved, a modern and sophisticated apartment with a decorative style inspired by hotel rooms with dark colors, mainly black, with shiny and refined finishes.
After the complete renovation, the interior distribution has been transformed, with some specific modifications to load-bearing walls, achieving an open-plan kitchen-living room and more space to install custom-designed cabinets according to the clients’ needs.
The kitchen features an island housing the cooking area, with the linear section reserved for floor-to-ceiling cabinets along the wall to accommodate appliances and storage, while the sink area is located in the central part. The countertop from Sapienstone manufacturer stands out, with a subtle white veining on a black base that reproduces the famous Negro Marquina marble.
In the center of the living room is the dining room, which is also very well framed when viewed from the hallway. This area is presided over by a beautiful pendant lamp, model Mizar from Vilaimport, a table with a finish matching the kitchen countertop, and chairs upholstered in black sheepskin, from Kave Home, giving it a very contemporary feel.
In this space, the TV cabinet (from the manufacturer Tegar like the rest of the furniture) stands out for its large glass display cabinet with interior lighting, and the cladding with large pieces of Sahara Noir Polished model from the brand Energie Ker, characterized by the contrast of its white and golden veins, and its glossy finish with an exquisite result. In this same space, on the side wall, a roll-up screen has been installed to watch movies or play video games from a projector.
The house has two very functional and stylish bathrooms. In both, a suspended charcoal-finished cabinet, a mirror with built-in front light, and a suspended Onix-finished toilet from Roca have been installed, achieving a lighter visual effect. The larger bathroom has been tiled with black tiles with white veins in gloss, creating a powerful contrast with the white of the bathtub, sink, and paint. In the smaller bathroom, dark and light tiles have been combined to create more spaciousness.
Moving on to the master bedroom, a spectacular Art Deco-inspired headboard has been installed, custom-made by Marcasal, upholstered in gray velvet with vertical lines and padded shapes; and backlit on the sides creating very sophisticated lighting that at the same time adds dynamism to the Vescom wall covering with vertical lines installed on the rest of the wall. Suspended nightstands and a pendant lamp with a glass sphere and golden structure have been placed on each side. Likewise, in the bedroom, a dressing room has been created, distributed in parallel where one of the wardrobes serves as a separator and at the same time as support for the TV.
The entrance hall furniture is another significant element of this project. Composed of a cabinet with a space with hooks and a small bench for shoe removal, with a wooden finish that contrasts with the black of the cabinets.
In addition to the rooms we can see in the images, the property also has a second bedroom, and from the hallway, you can also access a closet where the water heater and washing machine are locatedjust in the entrance hall, there is also a small storage room, which provides extra storage space.
Finally, it should be noted that special emphasis has been placed on achieving uniform connectivity throughout the apartment, on light control, and on energy efficiency.
