A sophisticated apartment where space optimization has been a challenge

In this project, a complete transformation of a second-hand apartment in Barcelona has been carried out, making it fully ready to move in. With an area of 120 m², the home has been custom-tailored to meet the needs of a family with two children.

The main objective of the renovation was to improve the layout and optimize the space, as the original distribution of the apartment was somewhat complex. Additionally, an elegant and modern decoration was sought.

Replantear una nueva distribución coherente y aprovechar al máximo la entrada de luz natural fue todo un desafío debido a las formas triangulares de la planta y a los muros estructurales existentes, los cuales no se podían modificar.

On one side, we find the master bedroom with an impressive walk-in closet separated into an independent room. There is also a youth bedroom and a bathroom equipped with a spacious shower and an elegant double sink. All these spaces are connected by a hallway that houses a practical work area, ideal for working and studying.

On the other side, near the entrance, there is a second youth bedroom and a full bathroom.

In the central area, the living room and dining room are integrated into a single space, while the kitchen is separated by a partition wall with a passageway that connects fluidly with the hallway, adding dynamism to the design.

The kitchen is one of the highlights of the renovation. It features a central island with stools for dining and a generous work surface, perfect for enjoying one of the family’s passions: cooking.

Aesthetically, a combination of wood and black has been chosen to create a sophisticated atmosphere. While the white-painted walls and light-toned elements add brightness and a touch of Nordic style to the entire home.

Custom-made furniture has been manufactured to make the most of every corner, especially in rooms with very tight angles, ensuring efficient use of space.

For climate control, the structural complexity of the apartment was taken into account to find the best solution. It has been addressed through radiators, air conditioning units integrated into the furniture, and occasional fans in the rooms.

Lighting has also been carefully studied in each space. Indirect and focal lighting has been included to highlight specific elements. In the youth bedrooms, a system of LED strips has been added, allowing different colors to be chosen.
